    Richard “Dick” Jester, 83, of Hot Springs Village, passed away Monday May 12, 2014 with his wife by his side. Dick was born on December 17, 1930 to the late Oden and Carolyn Jester in Evanston, Illinois.

    After graduating high school in the Chicago area and after a year or two of college, Dick and a friend decided to enlist in the United States Army. He served his Country in 1952 and 1953 in Korea. It was there that he received his Purple Heart. After returning home, Dick worked in sales for a music store, North Shore Talking in Evanston.

    Dick’s love for working in the music industry, lead him to work for Columbia Records where he retired from twenty-eight fun filled years. In 1989 Dick and his wife Pat moved to Hot Springs Village to enjoy his retirement years golfing, wood working and the many other hobbies he enjoyed.

    Dick was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and was very involved in the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

    Dick is preceded in death by one brother: Oden Jester. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years Pat Jester and two sons: Richard Jester and wife Lori of Salina, KS, and Joe Jester and wife Diana of Antioch, Il; Two daughters: Joanne Holmes and Judy Gindt both of Wheeling, IL; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

    A private family viewing and wake took place at CedarVale Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday May 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made in Dicks honor to the American Lung Association at 55 West Wacker Dr., Suite 1150, Chicago, Il 60601 or, Hospice Home Care at 3955 Central Ave,. Suite 6, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913.
